DNA testing used to identify Air India flight AI171 victims

The Air India AI171 crash was one of the worst aircraft crashes in the last decade with at least 274 victims reported dead.
In addition to 241 passengers and crew from the flight, some medical students, doctors and others also died.
Due to the fuel in the plane,many of the victims were charred beyond recognition.
To identify the victims, DNA testing was carried out.
The relatives of the victims were asked to give DNA samples for identifying the victims.
Typically the results of DNA testing will take at least 24 hours.
Till date some of the victims are not yet identified.
